Acting on behalf of joint administrators, Mark Reynolds and David Elliott of Valentine & Co, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has been instructed to secure the sale of Mayfair luxury homeware retailer, Thomas Goode & Company.

The 200-year old business has forged a reputation for offering some of the world’s finest tableware, silverware and glassware from brands including Meissen, Lalique, Herend and Sèvres and is well-known for supplying Royal dynasties in the UK, Europe, India and the Middle East.

Having operated from a prominent site in Mayfair’s South Audley Street since 1867, the retailer moved into a new showroom in Burlington Arcade in 2021. More recently, the business has been impacted by the demise of British China, glassware and crystal suppliers and was slow to embrace the advantages of technology.

The business is now seeking a buyer following its collapse into administration with Chris Buller, director in LSH’s asset advisory businesses, hoping to appeal to other luxury groups or high-net-worth investors. “This is a genuinely prestigious brand with a fascinating backstory and impressive heritage”, he says.

“There is a huge opportunity here for the right buyer and an enormous amount of remaining goodwill with some of the world’s wealthiest and most discerning consumers. We remain confident that there are buyers out there who can make the necessary investment to revive this much-loved British brand”, he adds.

The sale of the business includes the trading brand, in addition to an extensive stock list which is currently being valued.
