From Lambert Smith Hampton’s (LSH) Manchester office, build to rent expert Ian Scott has won the ‘Property Agency (Residential & Commercial)’ category at the glittering RICS ‘Young Surveyor of the Year’ awards, surrounded by nearly 400 of the country’s most talented commercial property experts.
Aged just 24 years old, he has already transacted more than £110m on behalf of developers and institutional investors, and is the youngest person ever to be promoted to the position of senior surveyor at LSH.
Oldham-born Ian was marked out by judges for being: “A very astute and personable professional who brings exceptional drive and passion for advancing the PRS (private rented sector) field as a specialism, and to the industry generally. His astuteness and level of judgement in all situations is remarkable for a young surveyor.”
Other comments from the award judges included: “Rather than treading the ‘well worn’ path, Ian has taken the brave step to specialise in a less developed sector. Unlike some surveyors who receive advice from senior colleagues with decades of experience, Ian has worked hard to develop a strong understanding of his market and has subsequently become one of the most knowledgeable PRS specialists outside London.”
Ian commented: “I find the PRS field absolutely fascinating and full of opportunity, and LSH has been fantastically supportive in giving me the chance to develop my expertise in this area and explore the possibilities.
“I get a real buzz when I can turn around a situation that would have most surveyors running for the hills, and make my client a serious profit at the same time. I’m thrilled to have been recognised for this work by RICS.”
