As well as being National Head of MBA and ABL Michael leads our Midlands and North Asset Advisory team and is based between our Leeds and Manchester offices. When he joined LSH in 2017 he brought with him a depth of business experience and expert skills in machinery and business valuations, disposals and professional advice.

During Michael’s 27 years of professional experience, he has worked across a wide spectrum of business and industrial sectors, both in the UK and internationally. His work with and for clients in professional valuations and disposals includes 10 years managing operational businesses in the UK, Europe, Russia, China and Japan.

David Hunter

David Hunter

David Hunter BSc (Hons) DipSurv MRICS ASA joined Lambert Smith Hampton in August 2019 and is based in our Leeds office. He is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with asset based lenders, restructuring and insolvency professionals, accountants, private clients and private equity houses.

He has undertaken plant and machinery valuations for secured lending and disposal purposes; advised banks and insolvency practitioners with regards to machinery and equipment in insolvency and corporate recovery situations; provided pre-lend advice on machinery and equipment values and suitability for lending to assist with the management of risk; and carried out valuations of assets for financial purposes and presentation in accounts.

David has covered a wide range of industry sectors throughout his career including construction, engineering and fabrication, automotive, aerospace, defence, printing, transport and logistics, mining, energy and recycling amongst others.

David has over 15 years in asset valuation and appraisal; is an RICS Registered Valuer, MRICS qualified since 2011, and an American Society of Appraisers, Machinery & Technical Specialties  Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA). 

Before joining Lambert Smith Hampton, David worked at Liquidity Services/ GoIndustry DoveBid where he was a Senior Asset Valuer responsible for plant and machinery valuations and disposals throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family, trying to keep fit cycling and running and has a keen interest in rugby union and league. He also enjoys live music and comedy gigs, attending whenever possible.

Nick Blackwell

Nick Blackwell

Following on from a successful tennis coaching career in Perth, Australia, Nick started his property career with Edward Symmons & Partners in August 2000, and is now the National Head of Property Restructuring at Lambert Smith Hampton, based between our Sheffield and London offices. 

Nick is a reliable, innovative, highly motivated, personable and experienced professional RICS Chartered Surveyor and FNARA Law of Property Act Receiver with a strong understanding and experience of the UK commercial real estate, secured lending and recovery markets with a proven track record.

Over 20 years post qualified RICS Chartered Surveyor working across the UK and over 15 years post qualified FNARA Fixed Charge Receiver taking in excess of over 350 appointments across England, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Specialisms held across all mainstream commercial and residential property sectors including retail, industrial, office, hotel and leisure, motor trade, healthcare/medical, educational, student, PRS, development and HMO markets.

When not doing the day job, Nick enjoys playing tennis in the local Sheffield and District tennis leagues, coaching his sons grassroots football team and can regularly be seen at Bramall Lane on a Saturday afternoon supporting his beloved Sheffield United.

Nige Nattress

Nige Natress

Having started his career with Weatherall Green & Smith in October 1991, Nige P Nattress BSc MRICS FNARA has a demonstrable track record as an exceptional property adviser within the Insolvency and Turnaround marketplace across the North of England.

Nige excels where there are complex problems involving multi-disciplinary service lines with an emphasis on asset valuation, management, development and disposal. He advises Insolvency Practitioner's in all aspects of insolvency and recovery work and also accepts Fixed Charge Receivership appointments from national and regional clients for properties around the country. He also regularly acts as an Independent Expert Witness in contentious valuations.

Nige is a lover of walking (with his Springer Spaniel Edna), all types of music and can regularly be seen attending live music events. He also has a keen interest in many sports, sadly more watching than playing these days, having previously been a playing Chairman of his local Cricket Club and still plays golf being a member of his local Golf Club.

Lucy Garner-Currie BA (Hons) MSc MRICS FNARA is an Associate Director who joined Lambert Smith Hampton in December 2013 and is based in our Yorkshire offices. She is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with restructuring and insolvency professionals, corporate level banking institutions, government bodies, accountants and private clients.

She provides valuation and professional advice in relation to both residential and commercial property assets in her capacity as an RICS Registered Valuer and Registered Law of Property Act Receiver on behalf of Lenders and Insolvency Practitioners.

Lucy also heads up the LSH Property Auction Department since early 2023 which covers the whole of the UK. Under her guidance, the auction team has continued to establish themselves as a prominent player in the world of online sales, with a 91% success rate for 2023.

Lucy has over ten years’ experience in industry has a comprehensive knowledge of the northern property markets having dealt with a substantial number of valuations and disposals across the county. She understands the importance of delivering high quality professional property advice to enable a solution to be tailored to her client’s individual requirements.

Joining LSH as Director and RICS Registered Valuer based in London, at the end of 2022, Roger brings over thirty years experience in machinery and business assets appraisal to the team, together with a multi-disciplinary knowledge base that, while primarily focussed on insolvency scenarios and distressed business brokerage, also encompasses, asset based lending, private client asset disposal and compulsory purchase work.  Roger has worked across a huge variety of industries and sectors with an international remit, encompassing many aspects of intangible and tangible assets, from music rights to mining and beyond.

Chris Buller

Chris Buller

Chris’s in-depth sector knowledge stems from his many years working at LSH, formerly Edward Symmons where he rose from joining as a raw graduate in 1981 to becoming a full equity partner and leader in the Asset Advisory division. Today he provides asset and business valuations in the restructuring and insolvency sector, advising on their subsequent disposal if a business sale cannot be completed.

Chris’s wide-ranging valuation and disposal experience encompasses many asset classes, including all forms of commercial property, land bank frauds sites, aviation and aircraft, fine wines, IPR and business sales. His expert knowledge and understanding of clients ensure he can develop and manage relationships with all insolvency professionals, accounts and private clients.

Kevin Powell

Kevin Powell

Kevin is a pivotal member of London team, with 30 plus years of experience in asset valuation. Having started his career at the BBC in 1970 as an Equipment Auditor, he joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 1990 as a Plant and Machinery Valuer, progressing to be Associate Director in 2017.

Throughout his career Kevin has gained vast experience and completed major online auction sales across a range of industry sectors, including TV and post-production, investment wine, construction, general engineering and fabrication, woodworking, automotive, printing, transport, and aviation. He has been involved with business sales, independent business reviews, private client disposals and valuations for financial accounting purposes.

In his spare time, Kevin enjoyed playing cricket to a high standard representing Surrey & England at Schoolboy level and playing league cricket in the Surrey Championship and Kent Leagues. He also played semi profession football and can regularly be seen at Selhurst Park on a Saturday afternoon supporting his beloved Crystal Palace.

Matthew is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships within the Thames Valley and South region. Operating from our Reading and Southampton offices, he provides a fast, responsive service to clients. A RICS registered valuer, he primarily works with insolvency practitioners, finance companies, asset-based lenders and private clients. 

Since Matthew joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 2009 he has provided tangible and intangible asset valuations, business disposals and asset disposals via both private treaty and online auctions. His role takes him across a variety of asset classes, including plant, construction, automotive, renewables, engineering, woodworking, food and beverage and services. Matthew is a qualified Site Supervisor under the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme, ensuring the smooth and safe running of our operations.

Lewis McCarty

Lewis McCarty

I recently joined in 2019 after sixteen years with BNP Paribas Leasing where I was Head of Recoveries and Litigation. My responsibilities involved collection and disposal of assets.  MQ and Mis Rep dispute resolutions and litigation. My function also underpinned the Risk function with forecasting recoveries against bad debt charge.

 Between 2001 and 2003 I worked at Edward Symmons & Partners as a Valuer  and gained experience in Plant & Machinery valuation and sales. 

Prior to that I worked at Dana Commercial from 1994 to 2001 in the Asset Management department which included recoveries and RV setting and Ford Motor Company both in UK and Australia in contract hire and wholesale funding. 

My experience gained in Asset Based Lending working for BNP and Dana included asset valuations and re-sales, risk modelling and provisioning, insolvencies, fraud prevention and compliance as well as litigation and dispute resolution, which included giving evidence in court for civil and criminal matters.

At LSH I will be utilising all my acquired experience and carrying out valuation work for ABL's as well as Plant & Machinery asset disposals.

Outside work I am interested in history and aviation and have previously passed my PPL (Microlight) licence. 

Hugh Dorins

 

Hugh started his career in Leeds with Henry Spencer & Sons and has worked mainly in the north of England although deals with Asset Based Lending and Recovery instructions on a national  basis.

He is experienced in working through complex situations with distressed assets or dealing with multi-site/multi asset portfolio valuation projects as part of a larger team.

He advises Insolvency Practitioner's in all aspects of insolvency and recovery work and also accepts Fixed Charge Receivership appointments from national and regional clients for properties nationally.

Enjoys spending his leisure time walking in the Wolds and East Coast with his dog and watching Rugby usually in a pub (but not solely limited to those two activities).

Simon Cornelius-Light ANAVA is based in our Exeter and Bristol offices. He is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with restructuring and insolvency professionals, accountants, private clients, asset-based lenders, public sector and Government institutions, mainly in the Southwest and Wales region. He is also responsible for the management and reporting of machinery and equipment valuations and also for disposal of businesses and assets by way of private treaty and online auction.

Simon commenced his machinery and business assets career with Edward Symmons back in 1990, starting as a junior valuer and progressing to Partner. Edward Symmons were acquired by Lambert Smith Hampton, where he is a MBA Director for the Southwest and Wales region. He is a member of National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA).

Simon is an avid golfer and his Holy grail is to have a single figure handicap one day.

Jason Hall

 

Jason manages our South West and Wales team, working across client instructions in our Bristol and Wales offices. He has vast experience in the delivery and management of machinery and business asset valuations and disposals, as well as distressed business sales. His clients vary from restructuring and insolvency practitioners, banks and asset-based lenders to advisors, accountants and private clients.

Since LSH moved to online auctions, Jason has been a key figure running auctions, multiple treaty sales and business sales. As a RICS Registered Valuer, he has covered a wide variety of sectors including engineering, fabrication, woodworking, food, renewables, mining, logistics, printing, retail, vessels and farming.

Adam Marx

 

Adam is a Senior Valuer based in our Bristol office and clients know they are in safe hands with him. An expert with 17 years of experience, he is an Associate of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers and a qualified Site Supervisor under the Safety Training Scheme for the Construction and Civil Engineering Industries.

Adam joined Edward Symmons, now LSH, in 2002 and has developed his skills and expertise since then. Today he carries out valuations across a range of sectors including engineering, construction, woodworking, plastics, printing, pharmaceutical and food production. He works on major auction sales for both insolvency and private clients, negotiating private treaties, tender sales and business sales.

Charlotte Miller BSc (Hons) MSc MRICS is a Senior Surveyor who joined Lambert Smith Hampton in December 2018, covering Wales and the South West region. Since joining LSH Charlotte has gained her MRICS title and her RICS Registered Valuer status, enabling her to produce RICS Red Book compliant reports for clients when required. Charlotte’s clients vary from restructuring and insolvency practitioners, banks and private clients which has seen her effectively tailor her advice depending on the client and their requirements. Whilst she can provide valuation advice, she also has experience in disposing of various distressed assets in both the commercial and residential sector across Wales and the South West region.

ASSET BASED LENDING

Steve Mason

Steve Mason

Steve started his career at Edward Symmons & Partners in 1986 and has many years experience dealing with and overseeing valuations for Asset Based Lending clients, and is a trusted advisor in the ABL sector. He has been MRICS since 1992.

Specialising in inventory and equipment appraisals, Steve was at the forefront when Asset Based Lending was introduced to the UK in the 1990’s, and has strong relationships with clients built up since then.

Prior to focussing on the ABL sector Steve was also involved in the corporate recovery sector, predominantly advising insolvency practitioners on the valuation and sale of businesses.

Steve was previously national head of the Asset Advisory team until 2019.

Steve’s main hobby when away from the office is fly fishing for trout, and enjoying a round of golf now and then.

Declan Kilbride

Declan Killbride

Declan has been valuing plant and machinery since 1989 when he started out as a graduate trainee. He joined Lambert Smith Hampton in 2016 and is now a director in the ABL team with responsibility for both plant & machinery and inventory appraisals, based in the Manchester office.

As a Registered Valuer with the RICS, he primarily works for Asset Based Lenders and their advisers.  In addition, valuations are undertaken for corporate clients and for statutory purposes.  With a background in traditional insurance appraisals, he has constantly refreshed his technical skills to remain at the forefront of the valuation discipline, and now specialises in the detailed analysis and depreciation profiling essential to many hire fleet and inventory revolver loan facilities.

After almost 35 years in machinery and business asset appraisals for a number of industry leading practices, Declan has knowledge of many industrial sectors and experience in over 20 countries from Indonesia to Mexico.     

Declan is a fan of live music and regularly goes to gigs and music festivals.  He supports Stockport County Football Club and enjoys cinema, Thai food and walking.

Nigel Sprack

Nigel Sprack

Nigel joined LSH as a Senior Valuer in April 2019, having contracted for LSH, and formerly Edward Symmons, for many years prior. As a specialist in inventory appraisals, he has undertaken valuations across most classes of industry for almost all the major asset-based lenders. Though based on the South Coast, his work takes him all over the UK and across the Channel.

Nigel originally trained as a management accountant, spending time as Finance Manager at electronics manufacturing firm Panasonic Mobile. This background adds to his ability to fully understand the financial situations that clients face, especially in the manufacturing sector, which is essential to providing a complete and informative valuation report.
