National commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton advised the organisations on the transaction, which will bring together one of the world’s leading ballet companies with a world-renowned ballet school under a single roof.

The facility will include a theatre-sized studio space for the development and rehearsal of productions and creation of new commissions; seven additional large studios for rehearsals and teaching; and open spaces that will give the public access to parts of English National Ballet and English National Ballet School’s archives, and encourage engagement with local communities.

The move of English National Ballet and English National Ballet School to their new home in Autumn 2018 signifies English National Ballet’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, creating new audiences for ballet and reinforcing the company’s vision as a diverse and inclusive organisation.  It also underpins Eco World Ballymore’s position as a property developer with an ambition and commitment to creating truly exceptional places to live, work and visit.

Lambert Smith Hampton will also be responsible for disposing of English National Ballet’s existing facilities at Jays Mews, SW7.

Ezra Nahome, CEO of Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “We are proud to have helped English National Ballet and English National Ballet School find world-class facilities to match their world-class reputations.

“Having looked at a number of potential opportunities across central London – including some creative and lateral options - London City Island ticked all of the boxes.  The new facility will enable both organisations to continue their strong tradition of integrating closely with their local communities, which was one of the main guiding principles during the search process.   The arrival of English National Ballet and English National Ballet School will also reinforce the area’s emerging creative and arts cluster.

“Our focus now shifts to advising the organisations on project-managing the construction of their new facilities, as well as finding a buyer for the English National Ballet’s current HQ near the Royal Albert Hall.”
