This scheme was highlighted last year by Lambert Smith Hampton in its ‘Road to Riches’ report, which focussed on seven planned and proposed schemes that were expected to have the most positive impact on the industrial and logistics sector.
James Hill, Director – Industrial and Logistics at Lambert Smith Hampton’s Northampton office, commented: “This project will relieve traffic through local villages and support the future growth of Daventry. Demand for industrial and logistics premises is directly linked to the provision of quality road infrastructure, particularly for online retailers, who are reliant on efficient logistics operations to meet promises of next day or even same day delivery.
“Last November, when Lambert Smith Hampton published its ‘Road to Riches’ report, we predicted that any scheme which would cut journey times from the M1 would put Daventry on par with other M1 locations for industrial and logistics operators.
“Now that the scheme has been approved, I expect to see strong interest in this location from developers and occupiers over the coming months. We have already seen 297,320 sq ft of speculative development in Daventry by IDI Gazeley, which will be completed in August this year. Available supply in the area is already very restricted, and this key infrastructure improvement will further enhance the prospects for speculative development.”
