The latest edition of LSH’s annual ‘Vitality Index’ reveals Maidenhead took joint first place in three categories; most productive, most entrepreneurial and most affluent town or city in the UK.
John Williams, Maidenhead's Head of Office for Lambert Smith Hampton explained: “Maidenhead has the best of both worlds – on the one hand, it is a popular commuter town, with great access to the M4, Heathrow and London, which will only improve when Crossrail is completed. On the other, it has a riverside location and is surrounded by beautiful places to live. It does have its downsides – the town centre and the retail area are in need of improving, but a regeneration programme to address this is being actioned at present.”
Data calculation
The ‘UK Vitality Index’ assesses the UK’s largest towns and cities outside London to provide a health check, identifying which have the most robust economies, are best positioned to support growth and will provide the greatest opportunities for businesses to expand.
The results are based on the analysis of 20 datasets, with each city ranked within six separate categories: most productive, fastest growing, most entrepreneurial, best educated, greenest and most affluent.
